Pro-life Democrats

Looks like Pelosi and Reid will have a hard time shoving their bill though congress, even if they’re just shooting for a simple majority. Twelve pro-life Democratic legislators won’t vote for the bill because there is no prohibition against using public money to fund abortions. An amendment had been made last year, but it’s been stripped out of the current version. Since the abortion issue can’t be readdressed in the reconciliation process, it looks like Pelosi, Reid, and Obama will need to redraft the bill in order to attract the moderate members of their own party. The more liberal Democrats need to remember that they can’t run congress alone.
